Kitchen Design

This client was not happy with the initial design they received from their kitchen designer. The space was redesigned to allow for easier workflow through the entry and workspace.

Original design

The homeowner was dissatisfied with the appliance layout, as they were all clustered in a corner near the entryway, where the exterior door awkwardly swung into the space.

Revised design

In our redesign, the entryway now incorporates a dedicated laundry area with a side-by-side washer and dryer. Beneath the window, 18-inch deep cabinets provide extra storage, countertop space, and a seamless visual connection to the kitchen.

A partial wall was added alongside the staircase, making efficient use of previously unused space. This wall now houses the refrigerator and an 18-inch deep pantry, creating a convenient prep area along the main thoroughfare of the kitchen.

To improve flow, the stove was angled at the opposite end of the kitchen, creating a more open layout. A pop-up hood will be installed above it for efficient ventilation.

Shared Bedroom Design

This mom of four was overwhelmed by the clutter in her boys’ shared basement bedroom. She needed a more functional layout with organized storage for clothes and toys, but wasn’t sure where to start.

Original layout

As the boys transition into their teenage years, they require more personal space. Currently, both beds are positioned on the same side of the room, with one bed obstructing the main pathway to the guest bedroom, disrupting the room's traffic flow.

The new layout makes use of IKEA PAX wardrobes to provide ample storage while also dividing the space into private “bedroom pods” for each child. For added privacy without constructing walls, ceiling track curtains are used to separate the bedroom areas from the shared lounge space. The new position of the tv area allows a clear pathway to the guest bedroom.
